KILLING HONOUR WINS THE NORTH EAST TEEN BOOK AWARD!!!!

2012 and i'm still no nearer updating my site on time! Still, there are lots of exciting things to come this year. I'm delighted to announce that I will be writer-in-residence for Booktrust for the next few months. This will include lots of blogs, a panel event at London Book Fair in which teenagers are the experts and a writing competition with a brilliant prize. More details as I get them...

2011 saw the publication of both 'The Gun' and 'Killing Honour'. Both books are creating quite a stir and have proved immensely popular. As I write, KILLING HONOUR has been announced as the winner of the North East Teen Book Award.  Fingers crossed too for the March announcement of the Carnegie Medal 2012 shortlist, for which Killing Honour is eligible.

'Fire City' is almost ready to go. The new publication date is Sept 2012 but it will be worth the wait I hope. It marks a big departure for me, away from the urban gritty stories into the world of horror and fantasy. I'm still waiting to get confirmation of cover images but as soon as I do, I'll update the site with cover illustrations from the amazing Adam Brockbank. For a sneak preview of Adam's style check out his brilliant website:

The Demon Hunter is also finished and will be published as part of Pearson's "Heroes" series. The series is designed as a pack for schools, so you can't buy the book separately. However, I'll update with full details of the offer for schools so that you can bug your librarian to get them in. If you're an educational professional, I'll be putting full details on my soon-to-be revamped schools and events page.

Rani & Sukh continues to make its mark on the GCSE reading list. I've had a few enquiries from pupils and schools. asking for help or requesting a visit. Please refer to the information page on this website for details of how to book a visit. Naturally I'm over the moon that R&S is being taught - I just hope it continues to be as popular as it always has been.

Them and Us is now available as an audio download for those of you who like listening to stories on your Ipod/MP3 etc. Click HERE for more information.

Anyway, keep reading and maybe I'll see you at an event over the next few months. Remember to check out the latest Booktrust, Facebook, twitter and blogger updates.

warmest wishes,
